Events in Mallorca for April

Tonight there will be a Chocolate and Wine pairing at Bikini Beach Boutique in Palma. The event is from 5.30pm until 7.30pm. There are also half price back and shoulder massages. Call 871 57 78 36wine

On Thursday evening you can go to see Shrek the Musical at the Auditorium. It is based on the much-loved movie and is on in Palma until April 22nd.

It’s Easter weekend and so there will be a lot of parades to mark the occasion, check with your local church or ayuntamiento for details of exactly where and when, but you can definitely expect to see them on both Friday and Sunday.  

The Anglican Church in Puerto Pollensa is having an evening service on Maundy Thursday at 7.30pm, a Good Friday service at 2pm, and an Easter Sunday service at 10am.

If you are up in Alcudia then look out for FlaMallorca performing flamenco at the Arena. They will be performing every Sunday and Tuesday during the day until October and then every Thursday evening as well.

On Friday evening at the new club in Port Adriano, the Playhouse, their resident DJ Steve Altman will be joined by a special guest DJ Tom Crane.

For the 4th year running Anita Vince and her team are braving the GR221  through the Tramuntana Mountain Range to raise money for Cancer Support Mallorca.

A core team of 7 ladies, plus many others who will join for individual days, will leave Pollensa on the 19th of April and arrive in Es Capdella on the 26th. They will cover some 150km of rough mountain terrain during the week’s walk.

Anita herself was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer in 2014 and had to undergo surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a hysterectomy. She started “Walk the GR221 for Cancer Support” in 2016 and in the last 3 years has raised thousands of euros which have been donated to Cancer Support Mallorca and other Cancer charities on the Island.

This year the walk will end with a fundraising event on the 26th of April, in Restaurante Sa Vinya, Es Capdella. From 5pm there will be food, live music and entertainment as well as a cake competition.

free cavaThis Saturday, April 20th the charity shop Second Time Around in Palma Nova is inviting all of their customers and friends to enjoy free cava and cake from 10am until 4pm.  


SarracoAlso on Saturday in my village of s’Arraco near to Port Andratx there will be a handcraft market from 9 until 2pm featuring art, textiles, flowers, food and drink and live music.

On Friday, April 26th there will be a table top sale of books clothes, home baking, and arts and crafts at the St Andrews Anglican Church in Puerto Pollensa. Doors open at 10.30am.

sofafestStarting at the end of the month on April 30th and going until May 4th there will be SofaFest! It’s a music and arts festival being held in small venues all over Palma.

March Events in Mallorca

The Fira del Ram is on from now until April 28th. It’s the annual fun fair at Son Fusteret which is open everyday with rides for all of the family.  Open Monday to Thursday from 17:00 to midnight. It’s open late on Fridays – until 02:00, and opens all day from 10:00 until 02:00 on Saturdays, and from 13:00 to 01:00 on Sundays.

On March 13th, Wednesday, at the San Juan food market in Palma there will be a quiz fundraiser for the Anima Sanctuary and Palma Dogs. There will be 5 rounds of questions in English and Spanish.  They try to play with teams of 4 each, so no worries if you come alone.  You may join a team and get to know some new faces! They request a €5 donation to play, and raffle tickets are €2 each. https:/

On Saturday 16 March the Victor Ullate Ballet will perform at the Auditorium. The company are celebrating their 30th anniversary with a selection of their best pieces from through the years.

It is Saint Patrick’s Day on Sunday March 17th and there will be a big event in Santa Ponsa to celebrate that. There will be free events for children, lots of entertainment and Irish groups, a market, food and drink and loads of Guinness!


On Sunday 17 March there will be a day long fundraiser for Asociacion Pecass at Placa de l’Almirall Joan de Borbo. There will be dog agility demonstrations, and lots of kid friendly fun and games.

There is an art exhibition by Manya Donaque at the Red Cross building in Palma until March 20th, on that final day there will be a performance.

At the D’Tapas Pan y Vino Tapas Restaurant in Son Caliu there is an 8′ Pool and every Wednesday a pool league which according to my Facebook friend Miguel is a lot of fun to participate in and watch!

Renegade Martial Arts in Palma will host a free personal awareness, safety and defence workshop on March 30th. Suitable for anyone over 16 years old.

On Saturday 23rd March at Zebra Studios there will be an demonstration of martial arts and self defense techniques by Jess Scarpulla.

At the end of the month we will have the Princesa Sofia Sailing Trophy in Palma. It’s a dinghy sailing competition and one of the most important in Spain.

Gaia Natural are organising a perfume making workshop where you can learn how to make your own scent on 6th April. The day includes a look at the history of perfume making and blending your own unique scent to take home with you. And finally, there will be a sponsored dog walk on Saturday April 6th going from Specsavers in Santa Ponsa to the archaeological park and back, a distance of about 3 km so everyone should be able to join in. They will be leaving from Specsavers at about 12.30. The walk is to raise money for local charity SOS Animales Calvia and the Dogs Trust back in the UK.

The huge Christmas lunch for kids in need will be this Sunday on 16th December. It is being organised by Saloua from A Ma Maison in Palma. She is working with other chefs to feed 600 kids! The idea is that you take a handbag that you no longer use and fill it with makeup, hygiene and sanitary products. Take it to one of their drop off points and it will be donated to a homeless woman this Christmas. The rules are no medication, no sharp objects and no empty bottles. Donations end on Friday 21st so you have some time to get it organised.

Although it´s still November, everyone is ignoring that and instead is looking ahead to Christmas!

This weekend in Son Antem Golf on the 15, 16 and 17th November there will be the First Wheelchair Golf Open Championship Mallorca 2018, players from 21 countries, and 5 continents will be on the course. The event is organised by Handisport Mallorca.

This Thursday it is World Sight Day, raising awareness of eyesight related illnesses and conditions around the world. Events in Mallorca in September

Sunday 9th September Almond harvest day at Eden Animal Sanctuary . Got a little frustration to get out? Bring a big stick and take it out on out almond trees for their almond harvest! They will start at around 10/ 10.30with tree whacking and have some kind of vegan lunch together. The funds from the harvest will go towards transport which is much needed for rescues, vet visits etc and all the rest will go directly to the animals, especially for upcoming vet bills. Sunday 23rd September SOS Animal Party at Puerto Portals which is a very important fundraising event for the charity. Every year they have a flea market, dog competitions (mixed breed dogs, pedigree dogs, and seniors get prizes), our raffle and delicious cakes, face painting and music.

The big event of the month happens at the end, in Binissalem. The Festa des Vermar which is the annual grape harvest festival that includes parades, celebrations, grape-crushing competitions and a wine tasting contest. You can look forward to live music, activities for children, wine tasting sessions, grape-stomping competitions and a popular picnic where the traditional “Fideus de Vermar” (a type of paella made with short noodles instead of rice, cooked with lamb, tomatoes, sobrassada and Binissalem red wine) is served. One of the highlights of the festival is the grape battle, if you are planning on going, wear OLD CLOTHES! Look out for the Dimonis and the Corre Foc, and the wine fair as well at the Parc de Sa Rectoria and Plaça de l’Esglesia. The final day of the festival sees traditional entertainment in the main square. Enjoy the Binissalem giant puppets accompanied by ‘xeremiers’ earlier in the day as well as free wine served from 16:00 in the church square. August events in Mallorca

It’s August, and it’s hot. A lot of people are taking a daily siesta and turning nocturnal to try to escape the heat. Most events are outdoors this time of year, and all of them happen in the evening!

Tonight, if you’re quick, then you can get tickets to see UB40 play at Port Adriano, and Afrojack is playing at BH Mallorca in Magaluf.

There are many fiestas happening all over the island, Sencelles, Alcudia, Sineu, Cala D’Or, Valldemossa, Montuiri, Can Picafort, and Puigpunyent all have something going on at the moment.

Alternatively you can go to the outdoor cinema in Palma, the films are either in English with Spanish subtitles, or in Spanish or Catalan with English subtitles. Entry is free and there is no need to book. Tonight it is an American movie called Maudie. Every Saturday evening they will show a movie suitable for children. Most of the showings start at 9.30pm.

Or on a hot summer’s night you’d like to listen to some jazz then get yourself over to Sa Pobla where there Jazz festival is going on. Tonight is the Mallorca Jazz Collective lead by pianist Toni Voquer.

There is a lovely Sunset Market every Wednesday and Thursday in August in Puerto Portals from 6pm to Midnight. There are stalls, live music and activities for children as well as some nice stalls to browse.

Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Port Adriano if you are dining out then watch out for the micro flamenco performances which are happening all over the port. Dancers, singers, and musicians will tour around the restaurants giving diners a taste of flamenco with their meal.

The 24th Illes Balears Classic yacht race begins tomorrow and runs over the weekend. The marina at Club de Mar will host an exhibition of classic boats, the oldest being the Marigan yacht from 1898 which the public can visit on Friday 17th.

From August 17th through to the 29th of September there are activities planned at the Es Baluard museum with their summer festival. Many of the events are free. Check their website for more info.

Over in Felanitx from the 24th of August to the 1st of September you can enjoy art at night. Galleries and other cultural spaces will open their doors for the evening and anyone and everyone can wander in and out enjoying the art and the atmosphere.

If you’re feeling fit then you could sign up to the first nighttime triathlon which will take place on August 25th in Sa Pobla. The course is a 400 metre swim, 20 kilometre cycle, and 5 kilometre run. You can sign up via the website,

From the 31st August until 9th September there are the annual fiestas in Santa Ponsa, on Tuesday September 4th there will be the fire run at 10pm and on the night of September 8th there will be the annual reenactment of the invasion of the Moors and the battle with the Christians followed by a huge concert on the beach. The following day in the evening there will be a Holi Party which is inspired from the Indian festival of colour, everyone is asked to wear white, but beware as you will soon be covered in non toxic paint powder of every colour! Finally the fiestas close that night with fireworks.

Every Tuesday from now on you can find the group FlaMallorca performing Flamenco in the Alcudia Bull Ring.

There’s a show for the little ones on Saturday and Sunday at 5pm at The Auditorium with Nanny and Pippi and their theatrical music show “Travelling around the world” It’s for children from 1 to 7.

This weekend coming Selva hosts its Herb Fair, with a mixture of agricultural and traditional events taking place during the day and the evening. You can enjoy exhibitions, cooking demonstrations and tastings of all things herbal. Sunday sees a  procession of the ‘myrtle’ plant when the shrub is harvested in lands adjacent to the village and is brought into the village square accompanied by Mallorcan bagpipes at 10:00. The plant is then distilled to produce a liqueur. The fair finishes at 15:00.

You can also catch the Son Servera Nit de L’Art this weekend as they  celebrate diverse cultural and artistic methods, featuring exhibitions of paintings and sculpture, live music, dance, and poetry  In addition, there will be food trucks, workshops and talks. The festival runs through the day and night.

If you’re in the know you will have heard about the new and mysterious international DJ Claptone who will be appearing at SoCial on Saturday evening. He always wears a strange mask and  nobody knows who he is! Then on 14th June BH Mallorca opens its summer season with one of the world’s biggest DJs Steve Aoki playing electro house.

The First Mallorca WTA Grass Court Open Tournament is at Santa Ponsa Tennis Club from June 17 to 24. With five natural grass courts the competition is set to be high and will bring some of the biggest names in international tennis to Mallorca, ahead of Wimbledon.

Last year the tournament saw Garbiñe Muguruza, Ana Ivanovic, Eugenie Bouchard and Jelena Jankovic.  Toni Nadal, Rafa Nadal’s uncle and trainer, is the Tournament Director for the event.

Also on Sunday June 17th from 11am there will be a march for animal rights starting in Placa Espana in Palma

From the 19th to 23rd June Palma will host The Superyacht Cup  and on the 21st and 28th June you can enjoy the Deia International Music Festival with classical music concerts at Son Marroig

Then there is the fiesta of Sant Pere 22 – 29 June in Puerto Alcudia Port d’Alcúdia with over a week of entertainments, music, parties, dancing and events. The origins of this festival can be traced back to the maritime past of some of the towns in which it is celebrated. Processions at sea, parades, street parties and gastronomic events such as the popular ‘sardinada’ (sardine fest) are the festive elements that usher in the Mallorcan summer. The day of Sant Pere (29th June) starts with a sea and land procession and finishes with a fireworks display at midnight. The boats are festooned for this special occasion, and they accompany the image of the patron saint on its passage through the tranquil bay of Alcúdia. During the preceding week, the Port hosts all kinds of cultural and leisure-related events including cercaviles (parades) featuring the Gegants (Giants) of Alcúdia, and various musical and gastronomic events.

Saturday 23 June The Nit de Foc is a one of the biggest parties in Palma. Celebrated on the eve of Sant Joan fiesta, it includes street parties, bonfires, fireworks, pop concerts, devils & demons and the infamous ‘correfoc’ – the fire run, where the ‘devils’ run through the streets with firecrackers and fireworks – not for the faint hearted!  The main action is in the Parc de Mar by the cathedral. Bring your dancing shoes and be ready to party! From around 22:00.

Finally for June you must wear white  for the fiesta of Sant Joan, celebrated across the island on June 24th Most towns and villages will have some celebrations. In Deià, Mancor de la Vall, Muro and Son Servera, Sant Joan Baptista is the patron saint so their fiestas usually last over a week and showcase a variety of activities.

Meanwhile, back in Palma at Cine Ciutat there will be a special showing of a documentary entitled The Worldwide Tribe featuring Jaz O’Hara, a United Nations speaker and founder of the Worldwide Tribe who will be speaking on the refugee crisis.  

Finally, starting on Thursday May 10th the Deià International Music Festival. Almost every artist from the islands has been given the opportunity to take part, performing at the Son Marroig Country House. Those attending have also had the pleasure of listening to well-known guest artists from many locations around the world. The concerts begin at 20:30 or, in July and August, slightly later at 21:00. Friday 11th May Reds, whites, roses and even sweet wines will be offered up for tasting in the centre of Palma, at the Pati de la Misericordia at the most important event for Mallorca’s small wineries, the Wine Evening which is the perfect chance to taste lots of different local wines. Tickets cost 10€ and can be purchased in advance at one of the wineries. All proceeds go to charity. You also need to pay a 3€ deposit on your wine glass.

Friday and Saturday 11th and 12th May With 3 simultaneous stages, the Mallorca Live Festival integrates some of the most powerful international artists of indie rock, world music, reggae, electronic music and hip-hop. You can expect more than 16 hours of live music spread over two days, plus street food, street art and a design market. The line-up includes: The Prodigy and Primal Scream and loads of other acts.

Just down the road from the festival Radio One Mallorca based in Magaluf will be hosting its annual Radiothon this weekend, from Friday to Saturday. They will be raising money for local charities on the island so good luck to them.

Saturday 12th One of Europe’s most popular Ironman competitions takes place in the beautiful town of Alcúdia. The swim course, 1.9 km, will take place in the city’s harbour. The bike track of 90 km, follows a challenging route mixed with hills and flat stretches. Finally, for the run, athletes will return to Alcudia’s picturesque beach after more than 21 km.

It’s Europe Day this Sunday. It’s a huge event in Palma Nova featuring stalls, live events and entertainment, loads of street food, and lots and lots of networking!  

And over in Campanet you will find their Spring Fair on the same day.

Sunday 13th there’s a Western Horse Riding competition at the Club Hipic Es Raiguer on the Ctra Vella de Lloseta. It starts at 10am with Pole Bending, Barrel racing and a Pony Express!

Monday 14th May One of the biggest festivals of the year in Mallorca and definitely one of the noisiest will be coming to its finale in Sóller and Port de Sóller. The main event is the re-enactment of the battle between the people of Sóller and the invading “Moors”. Black face paint, lots of fireworks and a fairly Mallorcan disregard for health and safety make this one of the best days of the year to visit Port de Sóller. The famous beach battle takes place on the Monday afternoon/evening. Beware though as you will need a wristband to access the square so if you want to get in make sure you visit the local council beforehand to pick one up.

Something a lot calmer, every Monday evening you can join the Paseo Margarita at 19:00-20:00 starting out from Club Náutico Portixol, coaching walk and talk to uncover your essence and achieve lasting change.

On Wednesday 16th May there will be a seminar entitled, “Journey of the Soul, The Process of Death” hosted by the author of “The Interior Woman” Zulma Reyo. It will be held at the Centre of Metaphysical Studies in Palma from 8.30 to 9.30pm

From May 18th to the 20th there will be the Calvia Six Points Charity Cycling Challenge. It is a ride around the whole of the island touching the four compass extremities of the island and the highest and lowest points over 3 days. You can get more information and still join up if you fancy it.

The next Life Clubs Mallorca workshop is on Saturday 19 May from 10 am to 1pm in a private room at the Es Pontet restaurant in Sa Indioteria. Life Clubs workshops are for people who want to explore their lives, their goals and the transformative steps they can take to achieve them – for everyone who wants to understand themselves and make lasting, constructive changes to their lives.
